The third year of the
AA Wine Award and the entries poured in like
never before. From the short and irreverent
to the weighty and studious, list of all shapes
and sizes winged their way to the AA offices.
After
hours of deliberation the judging panel (including
Nick Tarayan of last year's winner Leith's
Restaurant and Trevor Hughes of T&W Wines)
finally separated the First Growths from the
Vins de Table and this year's shortlist emerged.
Featuring some familiar names and some exciting
newcomers, the finalists are as eclectic a
bunch as ever. They all have one thing in common
though - in every case, an exceptional enthusiasm
for wine shines through.
From
day one the award has been sponsored by wine
merchant T&W Wines, and Managing Director Trevor
Hughes is heavily involved in the judging process.
